On August 24, 2023, the 10th “Youth Entrepreneurship” China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Technology Innovation Category) was successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei. In this high-profile competition, Vastech Energy’s aqueous zinc-ion battery project stood out with its outstanding innovative concept and excellent performance, winning the gold medal.

Lithium-ion batteries use organic electrolytes, facing many difficulties and challenges. In contrast, secondary aqueous zinc-ion batteries use neutral aqueous electrolytes that are non-flammable and environmentally friendly, providing intrinsic safety.

To pursue the stability of the zinc anode in the electrochemical reactions, Vastech Energy has optimized the aqueous electrolyte formula. The new electrolyte, composed of more than a dozen high-performance substances, has leapfrogged other industrial products in stability and efficiency.

Vastech Energy is now capable of mass production of three major types of cathode materials, breaking through the energy density bottleneck of aqueous storage technology, and delivering practical, highly safe, and high-energy-density storage solutions. Its unique aqueous battery technology can increase battery capacity by at least 30% and stable cycle life by 80%.

Traditionally, adhesives were mainly PVDF, which had a high fluorine content and used NMP as a solvent, not conducive to the environment and downstream material recycling at the lower end of the industrial chain.Vastech Energy’s new binder formulation significantly enhances the stability of the battery and greatly extends the cycle life.
